In a Hero's Steps: A sister's inspiring journey

In June 2014, I successfully launched and funded my first Kickstarter campaign. Thanks to 84 backers, I was able to raise $5,610 ($5,500 goal) in 14 days. My goal was to take a twenty-nine day backpacking trip across Europe to retrace my brother's travels before he died in a tragic hiking accident outside of his Air Force base in Aviano, Italy, and to write a book about my experience. I finished the second draft of my memoir in November 2015, and I am currently preparing to send it off to my editors.
My trip took me to Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Wales, England, and Belgium.

Grove city college women's soccer newsletters
From 2012-2013, I wrote articles for my college soccer team's newsletter. I was really passionate about this project because the newsletter served as an important recruiting tool for us to attract top high school players to our program. The goal was to give recruits and their parents an inside look at what it was like to play at Grove City College from both an athletic and cultural standpoint. During my time on staff, we went from issuing annually to semi-annually.

capstone english paper

Below is a copy of my paper for my Literary Criticism class. The assignment was to read a book and examine it through the lens of one of the literary criticism theories we had discussed in class. I decided to write my paper on Psychoanalytic Theory and Stephen Chbosky's book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. My professor ended up giving me a 98% on this assignment!
More about the book:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming-of-age novel by American writer Stephen Chbosky. Its narrator is an introverted teenager known as Charlie, who describes his experiences in a series of letters to an anonymous stranger. Set in the early 1990s, the novel follows Charlie through his freshman year of high school in a Pittsburgh suburb. Intelligent beyond his years, he is an unconventional thinker; as the story begins, the reader learns that Charlie is also shy and unpopular. In 2012, Chbosky adapted and directed a film version starring Logan Lernman, Ezra Miller and Emma Watson. The film boosted the novel's sales, and the book reached The New York Times Bestseller List.
