ProfilePasser

FOUNDER / CEO
I’ve spent the last five years studying the college recruiting process, talking to soccer players, college coaches, and tournament directors trying to figure out why some players get recruited and other really talented players do not.

So what have I learned? No shiny profile or highlight video or magical showcase event is going to get a player recruited. There are so many contributing factors to this broken system, but helping players define their recruiting goals, educating them with proven strategies, and connecting them to a technology platform that has real, genuine buy-in from college coaches significantly increases their chances of success. That’s what ProfilePasser offers, and it’s exciting to see it working for so many players.
There's never going to be a perfect time to start a business, to pursue a dream or to change the world.

In 2014, I graduated from Grove City College with a degree in English and concentrations in business and legal studies.  I was a member of the women’s soccer team and led my team in goals my sophomore and junior years while also helping the team make program history at the NCAA tournament in 2012.

I'm passionate about branding, marketing, and creating more opportunities for female soccer players to stay engaged with the game throughout their careers. In addition to my own startup, I'm helping several professional players build meaningful businesses that create value, drive revenue, and give back to the community.

After graduation, I raised money to support my first non-fiction book and received an offer to turn In a Hero’s Steps into a screenplay after I publish. In 2014, I moved from Pittsburgh to San Francisco to jumpstart my tech career and explore the west coast.

Doing what our competition is doing, just better or harder, won’t lead to success. If it did, the college recruiting process wouldn’t be so broken. We have to find ways to do things differently. We've built ProfilePasser to be a platform that connects soccer players and coaches on the field. Our community’s success depends heavily on education, engagement, and feedback. Getting coaches to buy into our mission is critical. That's why we sign up every coach in person or over the phone.

Over the last five years, I've grown this company from a college side project into a full time, financially sustainable career.  We've secured funding from World Cup players, signed 10 of the Top 20 college soccer programs, and created high-quality, paying job opportunities that support NWSL players while they continue to chase their professional soccer careers and inspire the next generation of youth players.

Techne Futbol

Techne Futbol
Co-Founder / Advisor

Three years ago, Yael Averbuch was just a professional soccer player I followed on social media (and a really, really good one might I add). After reading one of her articles in the New York Times, I decided to send her a tweet to introduce her to ProfilePasser. Little did I know that she would become one of my closest friends and we would end up building a soccer training app together.

The Techne Training System is based on training methods that have allowed Yael to play at the highest level. The app takes players through a weekly technical training session that can be completed individually and with minimal equipment. I did the design work for the app and helped Yael hire an engineering team to bring her idea to life. I can't take much credit for this project, but it's been a true honor to be part of Yael's vision.

Supporting and creating more opportunities for women in soccer has become a passion of mine, and I believe it's important to share both the positive and negative stories of women playing, coaching, and working in our sport. Women's Soccer Spotlight is a bi-monthly podcast that contributes to the ongoing dialogue about gender bias, by highlighting the inspirational stories of those who have forged careers in women’s soccer and exposing unbelievable moments of discrimination and harassment.

Notable guests:
- Shannon Boxx, 3x Olympic Gold Medalist / 2015 World Cup Champion
- Angela Hucles, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist / Finished third in 2 World Cups.
- Lori Lindsey, World Cup Silver Medalist
- Yael Averbuch, FC Kansas City Midfielder / NWSL Champion

OpenTable

OpenTable
Marketing Contractor

In March 2015, OpenTable launched its new brand based on a simple thought: “The table is just the start…”

I was brought on as a marketing contractor to help with the #100opentables celebration campaign. The campaign gave away 100 unique dining experiences in 30 cities all on one night. People entered the contest via social media by tagging a participating restaurant and including #100opentables in their social media posts.

Besides writing some content, most of my time was spent moderating our social channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. However, I was given the chance to brainstorm a way for OpenTable to “extend the campaign” on social during the two weeks of downtime we had between the entry period ending and when the actual dining experiences took place.

Luvtap

Luvtap

Luvtap is a social gifting platform that makes it easy for Airbnb hosts to welcome guests to the neighborhood with tasty treats from local, artisanal retailers. We increase foot traffic and drive revenue to small businesses while capturing actionable data to help improve community commerce in San Francisco. Luvtap is a portfolio company of socially conscious venture capital firm, Just Business and donates 2.5% of its revenue to Not For Sale.

During my time with the company, I recruited and led the engineering team, created and drove the roadmap, collaborated with the engineering team to re-architect the Luvtap platform, designed the website and mobile platform using Sketch, and developed requirements, content, schedules, budgets, and launch strategies for product release, customer deployments, and sales demos.
